Bengaluru EXPRESS News: Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah is confronting new difficulties following the Governor’s recent approval for his prosecution in alleged MUDA scam. This development has prompted Siddaramaiah to call for a special cabinet meeting today at 5 PM, after consulting with his legal advisor, Ponnanna. The meeting will be held to deliberate on the implications of the prosecution permission and the government’s stance on the matter.

In a related update, Lakshmi Hebbalkar, the Minister for Women and Child Welfare, announced in Belagavi that the notice for the meeting has been issued, and the session will take place in Bangalore this evening.

The outcome of the cabinet meeting is expected to reveal the government’s decision regarding the Governor’s prosecution approval. There is speculation that the cabinet might decide to oppose the prosecution. Notably, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah’s participation in the meeting remains uncertain. In the past, Siddaramaiah has abstained from similar meetings where decisions against the Governor’s actions were taken. On those occasions, Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar led the discussions.

In response to the prosecution permission, MB Patil, the Minister for Large and Medium Industries, expressed confidence in the legal battle, stating, “We are certain that we will win in court, and the central government will regret this decision. The Governor is merely a puppet of the central government. There is no question of Chief Minister Siddaramaiah resigning. Siddaramaiah remains a highly popular leader, and all ministers and legislators stand firmly behind him. Under his leadership, we secured 136 seats. MB Patil emphasized that Siddaramaiah has effectively led the backward classes and completed five successful years following the Devaraj Urs administration.”

Home Minister G Parameshwar has said that the Governor has taken politically motivated decision and said that they would fight this legally.
